Cinquain

In Fives

1
Truncate
treetrops are flat
we must reshape nature
and limit the things we cannot
improve.

2.
Young legs
take the stairs tow,
three at a time. Envy;
I don't remember feeling such
vigor.

3.
First drag
in the morning.
Relief and shame. My life
circumscribed by the stick that will
kill me.

4.
I wear
black because I
define it. It is mine the
way sunshine belongs to children.
They grow.

5.
Cinquain:
A quick outlet
for ideas not ready
to lend themselves to the weighty
canzone.
