A Lot of Ghosts Here
Reunion, where we meet
The past we once ignored.
Memories, bittersweet,
Carry us through the door.
Like kids we were before
We seek friends we held dear.
Not the same anymore;
There's a lot of ghosts here.
"He's a drunk; she's a cheat,"
Gloats the former class whore.
My victory is complete
I know it's immature
This keeping silent score
Of those who don't adhere
To patterns of before.
See, they're all just ghosts here.
Gracious in their defeat,
Bleached cheerleaders sing for
Fat heroes of the field.
Laugh if you must, but pure
Nostalgia is a lure.
When the past interferes,
It's all just horse manure.
Just ask all the ghosts here.
Homecoming princess, you
Crown is missing a tier.
The girl we once adored.
Sees a lot of ghosts here.
